Copenhagen Conference Simplified

It has been described by some , and to a certain extend one tends to agree that this meeting in Copenhagen is one of the most important meetings since the end of World War II..
The official title is “United Nations Copenhagen Climate Conference” and there are supposed to be representatives from every country in the World present, trying to make an important leap forward in de facto saving the planet. They are supposed to find answers to 4 important issues, which should reflect an international consensus on tackling the issue and subsequently complete a protocol that would replace the “Kyoto Protocol“ since USA would not sign it.

The four questions are;

1.How much are the industrialized countries willing to reduce their emissions of greenhouse gases?

2. How much are major developing countries such as China and India willing to do to limit the growth of their emissions?

3. How is the help needed by developing countries to engage in reducing their emissions and adapting to the impacts of climate change going to be financed?

4. How is that money going to be managed?

All fine, but suddenly somebody leaked information on the texting of the “Final” agreement pursued by the so-called rich nations who incidentally shape 20% of the world but consume 80% of the resources and subsequently produce the 80% carbon emissions that’s killing us all.
In this so-called secret agreement, until 2050 the rich nations would be allowed to produce twice as much carbon emission per capita, as the developing nations. The World Bank, thus sidelining the UN, would administer the money and giving the power to the Rich nations, who are actually responsible for this mess to judge and punish the poorer nations by issuing certificates of compliancy for them (developing nations) or withholding them from receiving World Bank loans.

To understand the deeper meaning of this, here an example The NPT (which has nothing to do with this ) was once formulated, to help keep the world safe from nuclear proliferations, but now it is a political tool to pressure selective countries with sanctions and resolutions. The UN was practically sidelined and the power was given to 3 or 4 rich nations. Today Iran is the subject of unfair treatment by this supposed UN body, and tomorrow the developing world could be the subject to political pressure and blackmail by the very few countries causing this pollution.

It is actually very simple, the developing world has to organize itself and stand up to these sleazy underground attempts at hijacking every international crisis and turning it into a tool of control. Lets hope, this time poorer nations would not be so naïve.
