Help stop a new war...

Obama said ;

"I've been very clear that I don't take any options off the table with respect to Iran. I don't take options off the table when it comes to U.S. security, period. What I have said is that we want to offer Iran an opportunity to align itself with international norms and international rules. … Now, will it work? We don't know. And I assure you, I'm not naive about the difficulties of a process like this. If it doesn't work, the fact that we have tried will strengthen our position in mobilizing the international community."

Now do not forget, Obama promises to talk to Tehran, yet to issue threats as a prelude to negotiations is to guarantee failure – and war.

The Israel Lobby (AIPAC)has been pushing hard for a confrontation with Iran, and it is working day and night to make sure war is a live option. Armed with nuclear weapons pointed straight at Tehran, the Israelis are yelping about an "existential threat" to their country – yet they refuse to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) and agree to a denuclearized Middle East. They won't even allow inspections of their nuclear facilities. Heck, they won't even admit they have nukes.

The War Party (so called GOP) is determined to take on Iran, and they aren't letting a change of administrations stand in their way. The only way to fight them is to keep the antiwar movement alive and thriving – and that means keeping Antiwar.com around to tell the people what their government is doing. They've been exposing the War Party and its various schemes since 1995, but they won't be around much longer if you readers and supporters don't come through.

Bush didn't have the political capital to attack Iran, as much as he no doubt wanted to in his waning days in office. But a president as popular as Obama could possibly get away with it. (courtesy of antiwar.com)
